Renowned for its cultural life, Essaouira lives up to its reputation and has many galleries to discover when walking around the city:
Frédéric Damgaard gallery : one of the best known of Essaouira, this gallery displays and sells works of local artists. Abstract, cubist or naive, the gallery brings together diverse and original paintings.
Espace Othello : this gallery, which is located at the entrance to the medina, by Bab Sbaa, presents eclectic, modern or "calligraphy" works. You can discover its subdued atmosphere and its original creations.
Bab Sbaa Gallery : Abderahim Arabid - his works are primarily calligraphy, an intriguing finesse. A very unusual place.
Bastion Bab Marrakech : the newest gallery of Essaouira, it is situated in the stronghold of Bab Marrakech, an historic and architectural work of art alone. This huge venue hosts temporary exhibitions and puts forward some artists.
Many other exhibitions remain to be found wandering the alleyways of the medina. Maison du Sud, Association Tillal, Marea d'arte …works, artists, styles to discover.
